You Won’t Believe This New Coffee Trend...

Coffee drinkers love a fad and the latest craze will shock you!

You’ve probably heard people order some crazy stuff at your local cafe.

Whether it is one of those orders that takes about five minutes to say or whether it is someone complaining that the coffee isn’t hot enough, people have a habit of exacting standards when it comes to their caffeine fix.

Things have taken a stranger turn with coffee orders now. It isn’t specialty milks and sugars any more...how does butter in your coffee sound?!

That's right. Butter.

Coffee drinkers the world over are dropping a dollop of butter into their coffee in the latest trend in coffee drinking. Grass-fed butter contains many antioxidants which, as part of a balanced diet, can have healthy effects on your body.

Bulletproof Coffee is taking that one step further by adding butter to coffee for its metabolic and mental benefits,

The jury is still out on the true benefits of butter in coffee. Of course, the Bulletproof website sings high praise of the practice but others are less enamoured by the practice.

Bulletproof recommends one large cup of butter coffee each morning instead of breakfast to give yourself a mental boost for the rest of the day. Doesn’t sound like the healthiest practice in the world - I always thought breakfast was the most important meal of the day - but the fad shows no signs of slowing down.

Several cafes in Australia are beginning to stock Bulletproof Coffee as paleo-dieting becomes much more accessible in Australia.

We won’t get into the science of the butter coffee craze - too many Latin words for our liking - but it has definitely peaked our interest! Apparently, butter coffee is just a more creamy version of a latte. The butter doesn’t affect the taste too much but the coffee does take on a funny colour!

Bulletproof recommends blending your freshly brewed coffee with two tablespoons of grass-fed butter and a tablespoon of their Brain Octane Oil (whatever that is). If you don’t want to spend your money on Bulletproof products - go for butter and a splash of coconut oil.

What do you think? Does butter have any place in a good cup of coffee? Can it really have the health benefits promised? Let us know in the comments below or on Facebook.
